Nurturing a Healing Space Within

If you’ve read any of my posts, you know one of my favorite healing spaces is the ocean. I am privileged to live a short distance to the Pacific coast, and I do my best to get there at least once a week. I’m currently taking a Deep Coaching course and the homework for this week had us reflect on the characteristics of a healing space.

I visualized myself on the beach, and was able to connect these characteristics quite easily to the qualities of the ocean that are so healing for me.

🌊It's the ocean's expansiveness and depth that makes me feel held and protected - cocooned, in a way - yet free.

🌊The thunderous sound of her waves crashing against the shore is the perfect soundtrack to drown out the processing of my feelings. I feel safe to cry, scream, sing, and laugh. She allows me to let go without holding back.

🌊The rhythmic crashing of her waves regulates my breathing, and connecting with the Earth through her sandy shores allows me to drop into my body and experience the relaxation that follows slowing down and tuning in.

🌊Witnessing her power gives me perspective. No matter how bad things may seem, my problems feel small in her presence. She is a constant that I can depend on - not trying to be anything but herself. And yet, even with her strength and gravitas, she allows the moon’s gravitational pull to move her, and she flows unimpeded, with no agenda. Just grace.🙏🏻

The ocean is my perfect teacher for this practice of nurturing a healing space. I will visualize this space as I practice embodying these qualities within my being, both as a life and end-of-life coach.

I'm curious to know what others view as characteristics of healing spaces and what "tools" you use to bring these qualities into your being.
