You are the One you've Been Waiting For: Nurture your Inner Child; Transform Your Life

Yesterday, I experienced a powerful meditation. I was deep into my rhythmic breathing, which really helps me “drop in” to a meditative state and as I was settling into the groundedness and expansiveness of the practice, an image of my infant self came into my mind’s eye. She was looking up at me, and it became clear to me that what she wanted was reassurance - to feel safe, loved, and seen. So I cradled her in my arms and affirmed that she was loved, she was safe, and she was not alone.



Then, another image of my 5 year old self appeared. She looked at me and I could see that she needed reassurance of her worthiness of love, acceptance, and protection. So, I held her in my arms and affirmed her, just as I had my infant self. This continued with me at progressively older stages—child, teenager, and finally as a young adult. Each time, I repeated the same affirmations, and felt myself energetically sending her my love, compassion, and grace.



My meditation ended where it began, with the visual of myself as an infant looking up at me from the cradle in my arms, telling me that she wanted me to come back to this place again because she really enjoyed it. I felt a smile forming on my face and tears welling in my eyes as I gazed upon the look of longing and innocence in her eyes.



I finished my meditation feeling flooded with loving kindness towards myself. It was one of the most healing meditations I’ve ever experienced.



Some of our deepest wounds were formed in childhood - feelings of abandonment, inadequacy and fear. They give rise to many of our limiting beliefs as adults. Do any of these resonate?

- I do not belong
